Glastonbury, Volume Three: Food and Drink

So you've parked the car, lugged your gear miles to the site, pitched your tent, found your mates and you've got the right threads on. That's bound to take it out of you. Fortunately there are any number of ways to revive yourself with food and booze at a festival and with the volumes of people who enter Glastonbury... ... the food options are many. Lining every area within the festival site are food vendors, as below... You can get everything from Lebanese to Eritrean to sushi to American cookies to erm... Scottish with a Belgian twist?? Honestly you could eat for a month here and never have the same cuisine twice. However, the convenience and temptation of fast food added to the unfeasible option of leaving the festival site brings with it a cost if you're planning on dining out every meal. Whilst it's not ridiculous (most meals will set you back around £6-£8) it can take a toll on the wallet. Add on drink and the fact you've already forked out £185 just to get in, there is unsurprisingly some room for economies to be made. Bringing your own food in is perfectly allowed and is a great way to save some pounds. Just remember to keep it simple. Like, poor uni student kind of simple. Don't forget, you won't be able to put anything in a fridge and as well as lugging the food in, if you're planning on cooking then you'll need to bring that crap too. Noodles are an excellent choice.
As the boys discovered, bringing 50 odd cans of beer was well worth the back breaking work of lugging it several miles from the car park. Hey - don't judge, we were there for 4 nights, mmmmkay? Anyways, Outdoors man is pleased with his moderately priced semi-warm cans of ale. And yes, I lugged enough Magners cider to give me what we called a 'cider baby'. This is it before I, ahem, gave birth...
Of course, you've got to keep your eyes on your booze or someone will pinch it! See the grin? Yeah? She's not even that sorry!!Still, I don't mind... it does put her in rather a good mood...If booze is not your thing, then you can always opt for something less toxic. You can get yourself refreshing groovy smoothies, pressed organic apple juice mixes and weirdly, a dairy fix. These guys were singing that Kelis song whilst selling pints of milk out the back of the tractor. (My milkshakes bring all the boys to the yard...)So, that's food and drink covered. Stay tuned for the final chapter on music and that will conclude the Glastonbury guide for this year!
